I am the church on the corner – the one full of years at the meeting of Gates and Fourth. I’ve stood guard in our neighborhood for nearly 120 years. I’ve watched your homes built and restored. I’ve watched families move in. I’ve held strong as our community grew, changed, and prospered. I’ve surrounded couples joining together in marriage. I’ve watched as babies join families. I’ve heard the laughter of children. I’ve watched as generations of families grow through the happy times, and I’ve been here through the difficult ones, too. I’ve journeyed with you to recovery. I’ve collected tears of grief and sadness. I’ve been there for the funerals, and for the reframing of life after loss.
I now find myself in need. More than a simple coat of paint, I have structural issues to which care must be paid. Leaks in my roof are my tears. Cracks in my walls are my broken heart. My crumbling foundation begs for the support that I have long offered this neighborhood. Will you be the kind of neighbor that I know fills our beloved community? Will you support my restoration so that I may continue supporting our community?

This project has been very special for us to work on. We’ve had the opportunity to work with our
dear friends, Reverend Grayson Atha, Pastor Anna Guillozet and David Harkless, along with the
Council of 12 at Gates Fourth United Methodist Church.
